Whether you're a student getting ready to apply or a family member planning a visit, we've gathered the most frequently asked questions to help you feel prepared. Explore the sections below to learn more about the TWTP experience, move-in logistics, and how to make the most of your time at Brown.

Program Logistics

TWTP participants will move in on Friday, August 22, 2025, and programming will run through Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Students not attending TWTP will move in on Wednesday, August 27, and Brown’s general New Student Orientation will begin with a kick-off event that evening.

TWTP is a full-time program. Programming begins shortly after move-in and continues throughout each day until the evening before Brown's general New Student Orientation. Breaks are provided, but participants are expected to be present and engaged for all sessions.

TWTP is designed as a holistic experience, and participants are encouraged to attend in full. If you're participating in another program, such as IMP, or have scheduling conflicts as an athlete, you may be excused from some sessions. Please communicate your availability with your Minority Peer Counselor (MPC) in advance.

We do not recommend joining the program after the first day, as you may miss key moments of connection and context.

Yes. You may apply to more than one pre-orientation program at Brown, including International Orientation (IO), the Bonner Community Fellowship, and Kessler Scholars Program (KSP)

However, due to overlapping schedules, you can only participate in one if accepted to TWTP.

Housing & Move-In

No. The Office of Residential Life is aware of TWTP participants and will send you a form to confirm your early move-in and participation.

On the first day of TWTP, your key will be available at the TWTP check-in table; no need to visit the Residential Life office.

You can pick up your key from the Residential Life Key Office, located in Grad Center Tower E, 3rd Floor (42 Charlesfield Street, Providence, RI 02912). The office is open 24/7. If you have questions upon arrival, call 401-863-3502.

Program Experience

TWTP is led by the BCSC’s Minority Peer Counselor (MPC) Mentors, a group of 20 trained student leaders who provide mentorship and guidance for incoming students. The program is also supported by five TWTP Leaders, who help coordinate programming, manage multimedia, and create space for community care.

Unfortunately, no. TWTP is only open to incoming first-year Brown students. TRUE students should check out the TRUE Orientation page for dedicated programming.
