Brown Center for Students of Color

The Third World Transition Program (TWTP) is a longstanding pre-orientation experience at Brown that centers the voices, histories, and communities of students of color. Designed to foster reflection, connection, and collective learning, TWTP offers incoming students the opportunity to begin their Brown journey with intention, support, and community.

Led by the Brown Center for Students of Color and a team of dedicated student leaders, TWTP invites participants to explore identity, build meaningful relationships, and engage in critical dialogue about systems of power, resistance, and change – on campus and beyond.

TWTP 2025

This year’s theme – Voices That Echo asks: What stories are you carrying with you to campus, and how will you let them ripple through time?

Our voices are shaped by history and community, and TWTP invites you to speak boldly, listen deeply, and honor those who came before you.

TWTP helped me develop a strong sense of community. Having people to smile at in passing or friends to navigate the large and difficult intro classes with has been such a helpful experience. Also, I developed a network of like-minded upperclassmen who have been pouring into my life since the start of TWTP. Brown now feels like a community.
